i don't know how the rest of my friends here are handling the election, but i plan to vote tomorrow. ohio anticipates more trouble with touch screen voting machines, compounded by perhaps 50% more volume. then i will be an election legal consultant, along with my republican counterpart, to try and resolve disputes fairly and quickly. wednesday 05 november 2008 is a day which i am treating as a holiday. some combination of catching up on sleep, opening a really good bottle or two of cognac, and praying with all my heart that somehow we can all put this election behind us and work together. the winners will envy the losers within 3 months, jmo. losers will have this chapter of their lives over. winners "win" challenges of magnitude not seen since winston churchill became prime minister of great britain facing the nazi juggernaut which most people felt was invincible. may god save the united states, as well as our honorable courts.....junkyarddog

Polliesboy: So glad 2 hear that you have come up with insight as to how best to get this personal thing successfully behind you. Try keeping busy, that helps as well. My sainted Irish grandmother used 2 say: "Idle hands are the devil's workshop." Of course, eventually I smartened up & figured out that she had a saying for EACH DIFFERENT side of every situation, which is why somebody with very little education who got off the boat {literally} at Ellis Island with only $17 in her pocket and no family or contacts in America managed to survive...lol

Polliesboy, with all due respect, take the high road. Resist the temptation to be an ongoing victim in this situation, she has the moral and the constitutional right to make bad choices. You still are the same good person you always were, and your kids still need you as a role model as to how to deal with adversity. Some day when your time is up on planet earth, you will have a lot better argument that you deserve to go to heaven, notwithstanding your own mistakes & faults, if you forgive. Take care, my friend, let me know if you want to talk privately.

Polliesboy, sorry about your domestic woes. But you are still the same great guy you always were. Don't let wayward wife define you....think of it as "she screwed up, nobody else can do more for her thanme."

It will be very interesting to see the market's reaction to the innauguration. I think once we have a president sworn and the world does not immediately collapse that things will stabilize, then improve. jmo JunkyardDog

Polliesboy, I respect you largely because you stand for something, even though it is often unpopular with the composition of the audience of this room. Best wishes to you as well as to your famly in 2009, my virtual friend. January 20th for better or worse America changes forever..JunkyardDog

Polliesboy, FutureV8: Good you both checked in, I was beginning to dial 911...lol Just got back from Florida, only not so fun, it was to depose two former local coroners now retired. But the Clearwater hotel was topheavy (pun intended) with single women, so I got to dance on the beach at night....at least I think I did, I was wearing a lampshade on my head.
January 20th is just around the corner, it will be interesting to see how the boondoggle with the car companies develops.....Bush said last night that he was "still making up his mind" but that he would do something on his watch, not cop out and hand off the mess to Obama. I sure hope he is smarter than he looks, because anymore he looks like Alfred E. Newman, from Mad Magazine...lol

Egotarian: God bless you, Ed Meredith! Your scholarly post "outs" Berg as the rogue lawyer that he is, and correctly outlines his "below the radar" scam. He is a "vexatious litigator" and a serial abuser of process, as well as being afflicted with narcissistic personality disorder. Thanks for impliedly defending those of us in the legal profession who are NOT like him, who ALWAYS take the moral high ground, and who took seriously our oaths of office {disavowing frivilous or punitive litigation}. Some day I hope to be able to shake your hand in person, my friend. JunkyardDog {Bert}

Good morning, boys & girls. It is looking like the new Cabinet is just about complete, subject to confirmations. It is great that U.N. Ambassador has been upgraded to a cabinet level position again...we need to interface with our new ambassador as she walks the political tightrope, seeking allies for positions that are supported by us. Diplomacy has been almost nonexistent until the past year in the Bush administration, and gunboat diplomacy is seen in the rest of the world as arrogant. It is because of this mentality that we are virtually alone in Iraq and Afghanistan. Meanwhile we are a toothless tiger when Russia invades Georgia; you don't need to be a rocket scientist to determine that Putin need fear no military intervention. This may be our one and only chance to start over....jmo JunkyardDog

Welcome friends & critics!!! Hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful. Holidays are always stressful at the same time that they are meaningful to the heart. Utilizing my overly-educated brain, I have empirically proven {albeit with a sample space of one} that turkey contains enzymes that make the consumer sleepy.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz lol JunkyardDog {Bert}

Polliesboy: I sincerely hope that your Thanksgiving with family was a good one, my virtual friend! We all are truly blessed just living in this wonderful country, notwithstanding the enormous problems that we face collectively & individually. Good that your son came over and showed you by his actions how much he loves you.....Bert {JunkyardDog}

Ms. Coulter is quite a "piece of work," Polliesboy, you probably should stay off the net to research her prior opinions on issues. I especially liked {not!} the bit about letting poor people starve, since they are a drag on the economy and do not carry their own weight. You get the idea...

Polliesboy: This morning MSNBC reported that ultra-conservative talk show host Ann Coulter has a broken jaw, so it is wired shut, just before her new book is released, and her speaking promotional tour was about 2 begin. I AM NOT celebrating, I think she is so sneaky that this is disinformation planted by her, so she gets publicity TWICE....share your thoughts with me, my friend....JunkyardDog

Polliesboy: I respectfully disagree with the proposition that Sarah Palin is dumb, I think she got plucked outta Nowhere {like that pun?} and as a neophyte on the national scene, where she was overmatched and underinformed. I have no clue what the team was thinking that promoted her candidacy in the first place. I kinda resent them taking cheap shots at her now, with leaks to the media about how she and her husband spent lotsa money on clohes, etc. --- those information leakers put her at the plate in the first place, it should all come back on them. jmo, JunkyardDog

Polliesboy: Money is important in life, but not as a goal in and of itself. It is only a tool, just like a gun is a tool, and neither good nor evil in and of itself. Greed is just another form of selfishness, and selfishness is basically what causes what theologians refer to as "sin." If and only if we as a society and as neighbors to other people and our environment
learn that we all are in this "life" fishbowl together will we ever have a chance of survival. jmo, JunkyardDog

Pipa: In the Midwest some of our bus lines are converting to recycled or synthetic fuels. Yesterday I got behind a bus full of homeward bound commuters, and suddenly I realized something odd.....the smell of french fries started filling up my car! Turns out recycled cooking oil is processed into biodiesel.

Polliesboy, the president says he is going to encourage alternate energy companies. Does that mean that soon I can get extra energy? Because by Thursday afternoon of most weeks, I am draggin' my wagon....lol JunkyardDog

Polliesboy, arguments should be met by rebuttal arguments, not sophomoric pictures or profanity. And your critics should have the guts to stick around for the counterpunches, and not shamelessly run to another website. Sometimes we do not agree, but you ALWAYS earn my respect because you play by the rules. JunkyardDog

polliesboy: I read {from small screen Verizon Voyager} while quickly scanning your posts that you had a conundrum, and on first impression thought you said "I have a condum." Or "condominium." Anyway I wanted to tell you at first "Hell, polliesboy, I happen to have had BOTH, but gee whiz I also took the time to learn to USE them." lol, JunkyardDog

polliesboy, friends, opponents: watching the giant plazma tv in the cocktail lounge before our table is ready for dinner. notice at the early stages meeting of global economic summit that virtually all world leaders in attendance feel awkward being photographed with george bush. barack obama out of respect for current president is not appearing simultaneously, which would have drawn the leaders to him and left bush sitting at a long table all by himself. how we as a nation got into a hole this deep is pathetic. the good news is obama is big on creating alternate energy jobs to fix recession while simultaneously freeing us from arab oil and cleaning atmosphere to address global warming. ....junkyarddog

Egotarian: I understand exactly your situation. My former in-laws live just opposite me on our little lake, and they are both wonderful people. It is not awkward to stay in touch, I have joint custody of their granddaughter, plus I see them at local government events. I would take them into my home in a New York Second in a time of true emergency, but OMG, like you say..... their world is sooooooooooooo different. Might need to explore 20mg Prozac as an option to take the edge off each day! lol JunkyardDog

egotarian: you weathered the thought of a democratic landslide without missing a beat. you didn't panic at the thought of the possibility of worldwide recession, civil unrest, famine. russian saber rattling when it invaded its neighbor for pretextual reasons you coped with just fine. but when the thought of a home invasion by parents or in-laws crossed your mind, you melted down faster than chernobil! ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
