Anyone thought of what it would be like with 15 or 20 million homeless people on the street. These are not going to be like the homeless alcoholics & drug users. This will be angry people that will band together against the greedy.Wait till you see child prostitutes & child drug dealers Or 20or thirty guys hustle a grocery store & walk out with whatever they can take. The ones that get caught will at least have three hots & a cot.The police will become banal about the situation & turn their backs saying the white collar crooks caused it theirselves.Anyone want to take a bet.Maybe you never heard of the riots in tent cities. The government better help these people before its too late. The hawks are waiting to buy their property for nothing at forclosure sales. If Bush & cohorts make it to inauguration day alive it will be a miracle. They`ll not walk freely about like Carter Or Clinton.

A little poem I penned a few minutes ago.Something for the theme & sign of the times.

Where the bright lights are glowing.
You laugh while the wine is overflowing.
You brag of your skill of obtaining wealth
Never thinking of that fortune comes
at the expense of someone`s home or their health.
Your certain that its not just the luck of the draw. You have worked hard afterall. You have taken care to make sure, that when you close that deal their shall be no rescention or cure.A child goes without I can`t be held accountable it was after all his fathers or mothers decission to sign the mortgage.Im not at fault I say.He knew I was feeding him bullshit & garbage. Now kid let that be a lesson to you.People in suits are out to give you the ultimate screw.Go back to your table & give it no thought for tomorrow it could be your job gone & your house bought.
The not so liberal Liberal.

Polliesboy: Yesterday under the name "Sword of Damocles" I wrote a response to an article in the Cincinnati Enquirer. The newspaper story listed six (6) reported armed robberies in one day. I made a similar point to the one that you are making in your comment about the growing armies of unemployed and disenfranchised people. I in no way was trying to justify the rise in violent theft-related offenses, just linking them to the decline of available jobs, the running out of unemployment benefits, the loss of jobs, and the sad state of our inner city schools, where only 50% of minority children graduate from high school. We as a society certainly have our work cut out for us. I do not envy the newly-elected problem solvers in Washington.

Tractor Girl: Perhaps when Polliesboy referred to himself as a "redheaded stepchild" he meant that he had those cute little cheeks that grannies love to squeeze. What a wonderful non-confrontational mental image to savor! JunkyardDog

LOL! JYD...that is a cute image unless you are the kid. I still have my "cute little baby cheeks" and my mother still pinches them and I wouldn't say that "non" confrontational comes to mind when people do that! Hahahahaha :P

Thank you for the clarification Pollie on my comment...couldn't remember if it was Alzheimers or dementia or what but nonetheless...very interesting observation. Nice little poem you wrote. You and Ego should put a little book together! :)

Tgirl,Ego is truly talented.I wouldn`t insult him with that proposal.chuckle.

Junkyard dog. Those are the things people miss. The people that we hear in these forums that espouse their form of anarchy do not truly want to experience it.They dont understand hat when it gets that far all bets are off.All niceties are not observed. You best not be a sound sleeper or require unbroken sleep. If they think they like a lawless condition then maybe they will want to turn their attentions to several nations in africa or fot hat matter the tora bora of afghanistan.you think hungry people wont fight.Think again. If Washington knows what god loves(peace)then they better fix this mortgage crisis before hoards of people are evicted. Not to mention wall street will fall & it wont be because the market crashed.I fear for what lies ahead in the not so distance future.

As I think about what implications Paulsons actions of yesterday`s statements & the lack of any action on Bush`s part,I can only think of"Nero fiddled while Rome burnt".The ineptness of both of these figures is appalling. To think the GOP would let someone this stupid represent their party goes beyond belief. Now I suppose it should make perfect sense why they took Palin in as one of their bosom buddies(no pun intended).

JYD,Ifeel too many people believe that the unemployed are mostly that way by choice. They want to believe this in order to clear their consciences from lack of responsibility to their fellow man.I believe the louder people shout this belief the more selfish you can deem the espouser to be.Always afraid it will inconvenience them in some way. What the saying"with friends like these, who needs enemies"?

Polliesboy: These days I am reacquainting myself with prayer, remembering how I got through some rather tough times in large part because I asked for divine intervention. This time I am praying for the entire nation, we all need to find something bigger to give us a sense of purpose when bad things happen to good people. JMO, JunkyardDog

People should really be concerned about our welfare as a whole. The USA labor force is 154 million people including the people that are unemployed. At present we have over 10 million unemployed. This is nearly 15% of the work force. This 6.5% the administration is reporting is a contrived number which in the end jst constitutes another lie. They use only the number that is still drawing unemployment. The people benefits that have runned out & are still jobless are not counted. This is nothing, but a distortion of the truth.Remember 25% was out of work at one point during the great depression, but we only numbered 140 million by population. At that point there was roughly 15 million people out of work.with bad weather just starting now the number of unemployed could hit 12 to 13 million in a few months.Thats not to mention keeping a close eye on Detroit. If only GM should go belly up it could put another 3 million out of work.

JYD,surprising the way we see things at times.Im not a church goer as a matter of priciple.I do however remain strong in my belief.I too found myself asking for people that needed.I scarcely ever ask for myself other than some guidance.Last night was one of those times I felt the need to ask for help for family & the people of world.I can forgo help if he people around me & the world are helped.I mean that in ernest.I ask nothing for myself. They`re many around that are far more in need.My belly is full & my head is warm & dry for now.

Ego,he said that the free market system should not be interfered with. That to me says hes not in favor of helping anyone but the rich individual by letting the work force perish & people have their houses foreclosed on.He even winked at the guys on wall st.Seemed like a smug smirk assuring the republicans that they were about to buy some houses cheap.

Polliesboy, you have a strong spiritual dimension, and a good giving heart. Church going has very little to do with being a person with a good heart, some of my fellow parishoners go to church only because it is good 4 their image, or out of force of habit. It took me years as a Catholic to get back into the routine of doing Sunday mass, and having a baby girl did it. I wanted her to have not just material but also spiritual advantages, for as you know the real world gobbles up and spits out the weak and the unprepared all the time. Thanks for being who you are, my friend. As an aside, my lawyer job is actually a form of ministry 4 me, the helping people aspect trumps makingmoney any day in my office....which explains the raggedy car in my parking space...ha ha ha ha ha JunkyardDog

Palin urges Republican governors to keep Democrats in check.

What a shallow airhead jerk trying to stay in the limelight by advocating derision.

JYD,I dont believe ones denomination defines his faith. That is a personal thing.Denomination to me is a religous form of politics.I was pilgrim holiness under the methodist denomination, but do not adhere to the hiearchy or teachings strictly.I still practice the verse"whomsoever believeth in me shall never perish"The ten commandments mention nothing about where or how one shall worship, only to remember the sabbath & to keep it holy. These where the laws of God & made no mention of interpetation, but obviously should be taken at face value.God didn`t complicate religion, man did!!

egotarian: you weathered the thought of a democratic landslide without missing a beat. you didn't panic at the thought of the possibility of worldwide recession, civil unrest, famine. russian saber rattling when it invaded its neighbor for pretextual reasons you coped with just fine. but when the thought of a home invasion by parents or in-laws crossed your mind, you melted down faster than chernobil! ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ......been there, done that, bought the t-shirt. junkyarddog

JYD, you laugh... my in-laws are good people and only 8 and 4 years older than me, but light years away in lifestyle and attitude...
It's that chronological vs phycological age thing...
Certainly would be tough long term.
my father-in law, like i said is only 8 years my senior and he calls me "son"... LOL

Egotarian: I understand exactly your situation. My former in-laws live just opposite me on our little lake, and they are both wonderful people. It is not awkward to stay in touch, I have joint custody of their granddaughter, plus I see them at local government events. I would take them into my home in a New York Second in a time of true emergency, but OMG, like you say..... their world is sooooooooooooo different. Might need to explore 20mg Prozac as an option to take the edge off each day! lol JunkyardDog
