First of all i don't think you understand the complexities of Hinduism...
The core of Hinduism is the belief in Brahman, the underlying universal life force that encompasses and embodies all existence.
Regardless, what's important is that, that event In the US Senate is just another example of the intolerance of the "other than mine" mentality that is part of human behavior and prevalent in our culture.
A behavior that i think we are all capable of overcoming and have the ability to change if we choose.
One does not invite a person to one of the most venerable Houses of the country to pray only to try and shout him down, that's not Christian behavior or representative of the American Ideal.
The point is, if this kind of behavior is practiced at the highest levels of our law makers, how does that effect the behavior of our citizens on the streets.
The thought of it makes me very concerned because the division within destroys the whole...
I'm reposting the words of the prayer offered, please read them again and see there are no offending passages.
"Let us pray. We meditate on the transcendental glory of the deity supreme, who is inside the heart of the earth, inside the life of the sky and inside the soul of heaven. May he stimulate and illuminate our minds.
Lead us from the unreal to real, from darkness to light, and from death to immortality. May we be protected together. May we be nourished together. May we work together with great vigor. May our study be enlightening."
