here you go.I dont know how much I`ll be here for sure.Im just popping in & out from time to time.I live the closest to dad,so I keep checked on him.I stayed there last 2 nights & probably tonight. My sister lives a little over 2 hours away. Its inconvenient right now,but close enough at any other time. She`s a true republican everyday. This makes our lives & beliefs clash.Shes the money person in the family.I ask for nothing & expect nothing & do not envy her money & I think that bothers her.I cant help it.I just don`t believe that money makes you a better person. In most cases I find it to be quite the opposite. There are exceptions to every rule

Ego quoted...

"Public health advocates believe that if all Americans adopted healthy lifestyles, health care costs would decrease as people required less medical care."

Funny you should mention this Ego, and I'm gonna go into just a bit of detail about my personal medical history...

As most of you know, I was very ill back in the Spring. TG was kind enoughto start a "get well Ray" thread on SW.

Was in the hospital for high blood sugar, which at the tome was over 700. If that don't mean nothing to you, normal blood sugar is between 80-100. If you're 300 then you're a diabetic and have to take inselin...

first morning in hospital what did they give me for breakfast?...RICE KRISPIES!!! go figure <<scratches head>>>

when I was discharged they gave me insulin and said take 12 units each day and eay 5 carb servings (carb serving is 15 grams) and make appoitments with the folowing Drs...

endocrinologist
opthomologist
Nutritionist
Podiatrist
GP

all of which were conveniently located at the premier medical facility in Northern NJ, the Summit medical group, whereupon I would have been the latest cash cow to come in 3-4 times a month for TREATMENT...not cure.

Well Pilgrims, at this stage in the game theur is no cure for diabetes, my pancreas simply does not produce enough insulin.

So what to do??? Very simple---DON'T EAT SUGAR...OR CORN SYRUP, OR HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP(POISON!!!!)

I haven't taken any insulin in almost 2 months, have lost almost 60 lbs, and I feel fine.

If anyone is interested in how I did it please feel free to PM me or e-mail me bigrayyy@verizon.net and I will gladly share my full story with you.

I believe there has to be some way that all americans can get some health care of some kind. I think maybe they should have some sort of program that if you need to get something done and you don't have the money you can apply for help with med bills. Oh wait they do have that. My mom just recently broke her hip and had to have surgery. She didn't have insurance. She applied for assistance from our government and they paid for it in full. I think they need to find some way to help people but I also think that if you want help you have to helping yourself. If you cant afford insurance then you shouldn't be smoking or over eating. I know that sounds silly but it makes sense.

Your last sentence NDS about smoking and overeating is not silly and makes total sense. As far as help...lowering costs on all of it would be a start to helping those who can't afford it. The other thing that would be of immediate help is allwing people to pay medical bills on sensible payment terms. Many who have to carry a balance are expected to pay it back 2, 3, 4 hundred dollars a month ....that doesn't make sense.

There has to be a way that you can help people without making them helpless. I think anyone over 65 should have insurance no matter what. You're 65 you're covered period. But we pay for that by saying , you're healthy enough to work, no handouts. Take care of the people that took care of you. AS LONG AS THEY PAID TAXES OR THERE SPOUSE DID!

NSL,Don`t know for sure, but a question. How old are you.You have the same opinions as many that have no problem doing anything pyshically.Til I was fifty or so I share a lot of the mind over matter theories. If you dont mind it dont matter.I hear a lot of people that think every body should work from dawn til dusk if they can remain standing. Most of the time these are the people that get behind old people & blow their horns becaus they think nothing or no one should impede their progress. My family has carried their own for all my life, but I do not resent the fact that some people need me to pay a little more.If some damn people didnt get paid 10Xs to a 100Xs what other people got then there wouldn`t be quite as much need for the government to step in.Without government intervention capitalism would destroy itself in a very short order & civil disobedient would rule.Think about it.If the rich was allowed to corner the market & monopolize everything, how long would it be til the masses(poor) would overrun the rich & government. We are the 90% that makes the rich that way.The farmers & trappers & such overthrowed the English that had better equipped seasoned soldiers. The rich are starting to get to damn cocky. They can be deposed.

Damn right Tractor Girl! Cigarettes were only 35 cents when I started and its hard to find good greasy food at a fair price. The Gov. used to pack butts in military rations and handed out cheese not too long ago.
Ahh, the good old days.

Pollies, Im 42 I don't think that everyone should work dawn till dusk but I do believe if you are able to work than you should. I also think working should be as it is NOT MANDATORY. But I do think if you don't feel like working then you shouldn't be surprised when you're hungry. I do believe that without the laborers theres no rich but without the investors theres no labor. One can't survive without the other. In America you have the opportunity to be on whatever side of the fence you want to be on. Yes it's true some are born on the rich side but anyone can do what another can.

Pollies let me ask you this, If you go to a fast food place and the guy taking your order is making 8.50 an hour . While you're trying to get your order in this guy keeps screwing up left and right, not paying attention because he doesnt care. Then you look over and the guy next to him taking orders is whipping people outa there with no mistakes. Do you think these guys deserve the same pay?

Oh,another way to lead a healthier lifestyle is to not have to breath fumes from automobiles exhausting fossil fuels emissions. So maybe we can ban internal combution engines & power plants or of manufacturing facilities.Hows that for a healthy life style. Also no foods with preservatives of spraying chemicals on crops or no till farming.Who we going to give the right to choose what we`re going to give up.If I have to what someone else thinks I shouldn`t eat,I think it only fair that you give up your gas guzzlers(pickups & SUVs & RVs).I think some people dont think things through to there natural conclusion before deciding whats best.It would be like me saying,"everyone should have to exert as much manual labor as I did for all those years in order to earn a living"What? You say you cant keep up to my pace or lift as much as many times per day or dont like working in snow or ice where you could fall into freezing water or you would like to sleep in past 4am in the morning.I say to you being you think that you know the way you think I should live, then you should do as I did & if you ass falls behind then you should be left behind.Sounds rather unreasonable & callous doesn`t it.There was many a man that couldn`t make it the first 2 hours let alone the first day.Even the ones that might stand up for a few weeks because someone carried his ass would soon find it took even more than hard work.it require an education that couldn`t be acquired in any school. My education came hard & dear. Its was just as hard as any doctor or lawyer, but the public did not have to reinburst me for it.I think doctors & a lot of others are to well imburst for their efforts that dont require as much pyshical exertion. What if farmers decide their crops are worth ten times as much. They have the one damn thing you cant do without.Food.I can do without oil in the long run,but I cant do without food.

No I dont, but it doesn`t mean that the last job the good one had that he wasn`t just as bad.Right.I put many people in many jobs that they will look very inept at.Then again most of the fast food people except the management have their feet under mom & dads table. But even though they are screw ups, they at least have made an effort not to be standing on the corner selling drugs. If you continuously look for a reason to punish working people or guys of little means it doesn`t take long to kill their spirits to work hard.Remember they are not all stupid. They can look around & see people setting on their asses making millions for the most of their lives doing without nothing because their parents help them with an education or a lot of other scenerios.

polliesboy: the countdown to the election continues and neither side appears to be pulling back on the reins. i am seeing mccain/palin people coming into ohio from states where he {mccain} has unoffici'ly pulled the plug. that's fine, we know how to deal with carpetbaggers down here! lots of old folks who earlier didn't even have the interest level to vote early by mail now are changing their minds, the phone now rings asking for vans to tote them to the board of elections, where saturday hours are expanded. great weather from the good lord a welcome surprize, thank you jesus. i tote republicans as well as democrats, if they can stand my sniper soundbites while i drive. we are all in this together, after all. tuesday i am the democratls election judge, and i will instruct the poll watchers to make all ballots provisional if the government i.d. has an address different from the voting address. i told them to tell their republican counterparts that we plan to disqualify likely democrats as well as republicans. drives the opposition crazy...but crooks are not welcome on my watch. be safe pollie, we care for you. junkyarddog

I don`t know what the outcome will be,but I do know this.If McCain wins this country is in for the greatest loss of jobs its has known since the 1930s.That my friends you can take to the bank. Now something that jst came to my attention in the last few days. This is how out of touch McCain is with the needs of the country. All those 45 nuclear power plants he is proposing will run short of uranium for fuel in less than 50 yrs.hats roughly how much of a supply that is in the ground. It takes roughly 4 to 5 years to bring a nuclear plant on line.So how bad will the fuel crisis be before any of that even helps.Same way with the offshore drilling. There are no guarrantees of how much oil they will find or of what grade. Its like the oil they found off of brazilian shores. It could be of the same grade as vezuela.Their crude is so heavy that we are the only ones that can refine it.Even then most of their million barrels per day is only fit to produce asphalt after refining. The GOP is not telling the people about these aspects of their energy plans.I tell you this,as much as you can plainly see that this last GOP administration has hid from the public til everything started to fall apart, you best take that into interest. They lied about the Iraqi WMD & used it for a damn smoke screen while they let the big boys on wall street loot the treasuries of company after company. Now tell me they didn`t hide behind the war effort to raise oil prices & let the investment banking community get away with fraud & gross negligence & plain theft. Now think about McCains own words. He said he brought it to congresses attention about what was going on with freddie mac & fannie mae in 2004.Now that was a republican congress. So why was nothing done to change things. This was on his watch & on the GOP watch. If it had been brought out & dealt with at that time it would have been much much less severe. They had two years to deal with this before the democrats took control of congress. Why didnt they deal with it.I suggest because Bush told them to cease & desist or they would not have a job in 2006.Even knowing that things was not right McCain watched without saying anymore while the CEOs bailed out with their golden parachutes of 15 or 25million dollars plus stock they could cash in also.Is this the famous watch dog.Is this the guy you want spending your money or overseeing it.He`s going to give tax breaks that will be kind to his wifes $100 million & her people that has helped back his campaign.Obamas tax plan is going to rip their asses a new one.Geraldine Ferraro was on the debates the other night about views of the different aspects of Obama & McCain as was Allan Colms,Steve Forbes & a couple more prominent GOP businessmen A Strategist & one other Democrat. She said shes in the top 1% of the earners in America. She said that though Obamas plan would personal cause her hand to tremble & she was grimmacing while writing her new tax check, she nevertheless do it with a glad heart, because it was the right thing to do.She said she has seen how the extra taxes help so many & creates opportunity for people to improve their earning power. In the end she said that she would still take home far more that she needed to live good. She said yes it is patriotic to pay her taxes.
