The investment banking community is to blame first. They knew that property was not actually appreciating at this rate in all but a few isolated cases.they knew better & instead of investigating the reasoning they set out to gather as much new mortgaging as possible.they gave bonuses to CEOs for hitting quota targets or bad loans. It was completely unscrupulous & downright criminal.for some reason the banking industry becomes embolden to pull crooked deals under the GOP administrations. Why is this. The same thing happened with the S&Ls under Reagan. This can not be just a coincidence. The wars & gas prices seem to be a subterfuge to mask what was going on on wall street.I dont feel like this is going to get the attention it should get because of the desparate situation our economy is in.This needs to be investigated fully & jail time needs to be meted out to all who participated in the fraud. This starts on wall street, but goes to the whitehouse.Bush needs to be defrocked & jailed. He has failed to enforce his oath of office. He knew exactly what he was doing.Im not looking for impeachment.Im looking for jail time to stop this from happening again anytime soon.

OPEC says they will cut production despite the posibility that it may cause oil prices to rise in the face of an economical crisis.Folks this tells you one thing.those countries want to see the USA on their knees. This is a call to arms in my opinion. Not in the literal sense, but to become self sufficient in energy. Its time to say no more.the natural gas is in the ground & it belongs to you,not exxon or anyone else. Its time for the USA to assert itself. Its time not tobe hijack or blackmailed by oil companies or foreign government. We have just started socialixing the banking industry. We an do the same to the terrorist oil industry. These big oil companies have proved they will not operate in a benevolent consideration of their fellow citizens.Maybe its time to bring them to bear also.If they cant bring theirselves to help the nation then we can tax them to a place that can then be used to supplement their product to the citizens. We are not going to fall for the lack of energy or greedy people. This latest round bank takeovers should send a message to the greedy. We mean business. If you want life to remain in any assemblance of the way you knew it til this last 8years,you better change your damn greedy power hungry ways.It can change by one stroke of the pen.The super wealthy may think they are all powerful, but congress actually has their nuts in a vice. They can squeeze them as hard & often as the public likes. You`ll do well to remember your wealth is like a guest in someone else`s home.

This was waiting for me this morning in my in box... thought it appropriate!

Redistribution of wealth

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign the read "Vote Obama, I need the money." I laughed.

Once in the restaurant my server had on a "Obama 08" tie, again I laughed--just imagine the coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I've decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved money more.

I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

Good Morning Pollie and JYD!!!

I worked my ass off for 6 yrs under Bush.6 to 7 days a week. You know how much I got in those two different rebates or stimulus payments.Nada nothing.Have any idea how much Exxon saved on taxes is that same period. Now he`s left my country to pay bills through the lifetime of my grandchildren, because he thinks the wealthy derserve money more than the poor dumb asses that elected him.Thats the poor dumb asses, because there isnt enough rich people to elect him without the help of the poor.So if you like the way he`s done business vote republican again. You`ll get more of the same thing. Its not who it is its just the republican tenet.

Everyone worrying about tax cuts.Whos going to pay for those tax cuts. Those tax cuts are a big portion of the deficits we have had.You take less revenue coming in because of the tax cuts & 10 billion a month going out the door for the war makes it hard not to post deficits. Can`t balance your check book like that. They are borrowing money for both things.Bush or McCain dont give a damn.Ones 62 & the other is 72.Both have enough damn money to last them another life time.So why should they give a damn.Neither have ever needed any damn thing in the way of money in their whole damn lives. Are these the kind of people that could have a clue to what its like to be a working stiff. Not likely.

Something thats really got the steam coming out my ears this morn is OPEC.These ragheads cut production by 1.5million barrels per day. With the world in recession & getting worse, they think they should remain getting richer after 8 yrs of windfall profits spurred by wasteful Americans. Is anyone else as outraged as I am over this. Its time to take charge of our future.Alternate energy folks. It will do two things. It will loosen the grip of oil prices & put America back to work.

Ok..I ask your tolerance for my ignorance on this issue I want to revisit...role of the VP. I pulled this off of Wiki...

"In politics, a vice president is a person whose primary responsibility is to replace the president on the event of his or her death, resignation or incapacity. Vice presidents are either elected jointly with the president as his or her running mate, elected separately, or appointed independently after the president's election.

Governments with vice presidents generally have only one person in this role at any time. If the president is not present, dies, resigns, or is otherwise unable to fulfill his or her duties, the vice president will generally serve as president. In many presidential systems, the vice president does not wield much day-to-day political power, but is still considered an important member of the cabinet. Several vice presidents in the Americas hold the position of President of the Senate; this is the case, for example, in Argentina, the United States, and Uruguay. The vice president sometimes assumes some of the ceremonial duties of the president, such as attending functions and events that the actual president may be too busy to attend; the Vice President of the United States, for example, often attends funerals of world leaders on behalf of the President. In this capacity, the vice president may thus assume the role of a de facto symbolic head of state, a position which is lacking in a system of government where the powers of head of state and government are fused.

The Vice President of the United States is designated by the Constitution as the President of the Senate. The Vice President holds a tie breaking vote in the Senate and does not usually preside over the Senate. Since its conception, the role of casting a tie-breaking vote in the Senate has been exercised 242 times. The Vice President of the United States with the most tie breaking votes is John Adams with 29. If there is no sitting Vice President then the President pro tempore of the United States Senate or "President pro tem" serves as President of the Senate. The President pro tem also serves in this role in the Vice President's absence, or if the Vice President assumes the office of President of the United States. In practice, freshman senators are traditionally assigned the role of presiding over the Senate in order to learn Senate procedure."

So...other than assuming role of President should he/she die or become incapacitated...the only role a VP has is tie breaker in the Senate and attend events if the President can't? Is that really all they do? Palin was right then..the answer she gave that 3rd grader. I thought they did more for some reason. I have always wondered why we never saw Cheney other than during his own medical emergencies...he wasn't doing anything I guess.LOL

No. Palin was incorrect by stating that the VP is in "CHARGE" of the Senate and a policy maker.

LB Johnson thought he could influence policy in the senate as VP but soon found, much to his surprise, that the senators even his good old buddies shut him out because he was no longer a member of the club, and he had join another: the Executive...

For all intents & purposes a VP is nothing more than a replacement or alternative for the president.Other than breakong a tie in the senate he holds no authority. He is an extention of the president when the president is incapacitated only.He/she is not actually elected or sworn in as an officer of the USA.Other than breaking a tie in the senate his/her actions are not binding.His/her duty is much like that of an alternative juror.

May i suggest reading this...

NEW YORK TIMES EDITORIAL
10/24/2008
Barack Obama for President

The United States is battered and drifting after eight years of President Bush’s failed leadership. He is saddling his successor with two wars, a scarred global image and a government systematically stripped of its ability to protect and help its citizens — whether they are fleeing a hurricane’s floodwaters, searching for affordable health care or struggling to hold on to their homes, jobs, savings and pensions in the midst of a financial crisis that was foretold and preventable.

As tough as the times are, the selection of a new president is easy. After nearly two years of a grueling and ugly campaign, Senator Barack Obama of Illinois has proved that he is the right choice to be the 44th president of the United States.

My apologies Ego...didn't realize she used "in charge". The statement I heard was that she said she was in fact the "president over the senate".

Many people think that her answer is not that important, because the interviewer read the question submitted by a third grade student in written form..
The interview was not all grade school oriented.
Watch the video and you can make your own opinion on whether Palin knows the correct answer or not... and if she does then shame on her for giving the wrong information to a student.

JohnDeereGirl: The biggest traditional thing that the vice president does (not counting breaking a tie vote in the Senate or succeeding an incapacitated president) is to be a surrogate for the president. There are lots of things that command thepresident's attention, and the president cannot make formal appearances in two places at once. So if Princess Diana dies, and the president has a full plate of important stuff scheduled, the Brits are not disrespected because the vice president shows up and pays his or her respects to the mourning family. It is largely a ceremonial function, and the vice president should always qualify his or her answers by saying that the president will be informed of the concerns or feelings of the parties. SO WHEN IS THE COMMENCEMENT OF HUNTING SEASON IN ALASKA? AND IN A MCCAIN/PALIN ADMINISTRATION WILL IT FOREVER BE THE CASE THAT CONCEALED CARRY LAWS ARE KEPT IN PLACE, AND THAT TAXES ON BEER WILL BE KEPT TO A MINIMUM? JunkyardDog

Ok..she answered it as if answering the child. I guess I would assume she knows the correct answer but tried to explain in "child speak". Clearly she is struggling with how to answer it.
