Billy,

There is a line in the movie "Gone in 60 seconds" that goes "A brother's love is a brother's love" meaning there is no words that describe the love between brothers. That love is a gift you shared and will be yours to hold on to forever.

You are right...life most often does not make any sense.

From my heart...I am so deeply sorry.

Taking a chance on a song for you, Polliesboy. I hope it helps you feel hugged and supported while you work through the grief. I grieve with you. Can't imagine loosing a sibling...never have. Much love, Angie

pollie, I am truly sorry for your loss. At times like these I am always reminded of a writing found on an old tombstone in southern Ireland:

"Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal."

May your love for your brother leave you with the cherished memories needed to eventually fill the emptyness his death has left in your heart..............

god of our life, there are days when the burdens we carry chafe our shoulders and weigh us down; when the road seems dreary and endless, the skies gray and threatening; when our lives have no music in them, and our hearts are lonely, and our souls have lost their courage. flood the path with light, we beseech you, tune our hearts to brave music; give us the sense of comradeship with heroes and saints of every age; and so quicken our spirits that we may be able to encourage the souls of all who journey with us on the road of life, to your honor and glory. ........armed forces chaplain's manual

tractor girl: i like your idea that those of us that have become trusted friends submit identifying or contact information to each other. if we got it on a list and gave a link to the list to each other, then if one od us finds out news that we want to share we can pass it on to everybody with one click on the laptop. thanks for the kind words, lisa {blush}. you rascals are my virtual family, and you have all become special to me. at another user specific website, my given name is "wyatt earp," because when i see something wrong i want to assemble a posse and head for dodge city to take down the bad guys. we are all such interesting composites of diverse components of personality, talents, values. life is sometimes good, sometimes bad, but never boring. bert

I had to blow my nose a few times while listening to that song that you chose to play for your
brother. Feel better Pollie, and don't disappear, you still gotta run this show.

Billy,
words at these times always seem to fail me, so to paraphrase Shakespeare:

His life was gentle; and the elements
so mixed in him, that I might stand up,
and say to all the world, this was my Brother!

and so are we all... Billy my heart goes out to you and yours... ego

Friends,Im not really into politics at the moment, but I do ask this in case I get side tracked for a while. No matter who you lean toward as a canidate do your homework & go vote.It is one precious right we possess.Everyone has their own reasoning. My agenda is simple.Since I am sure you can not take wealth with you it may better be served to spread it in such a way that no one has to little of it.that is the way I must phrase it as it seems no one thinks you can possess too much. That is not my thoughts,I believe if a small ercentage have so much it causes others to do without it is too much.I am of the opinion that all people should be able to afford at least a meager home & substanance without taking thirty or so years to achieve it.That is an unreasonable amount of time for a person to wait or have his life mortgaged. This in my opinion is unfair leverage exerted by the people that already possess more than enough.I dont care how you brand this way of thinking. It is through unselfishness in my opinion. As much respect as I have for T Boone Pickens,I ask you does he really need 86,000 acres of land or does he really deserve to take up that much while so many have no acres. The government is sitting on millions of acres in parks alone.I give you this concept to think about & question I have.Does anyone out there have a deed from God for even one acre of land?

As i was perusing the web for articles on voting rights i came across this site: http://www.votesmart.org/index.htm

Their idea is that thousands of citizens (conservative and liberal alike) working together, spending endless hours researching the backgrounds and records of thousands of political candidates and elected officials to discover their voting records, campaign contributions, public statements, biographical data (including their work history) and evaluations of them generated by over 100 competing special interest groups. Every election these volunteers test each candidate's willingness to provide citizens with their positions on the issues they will most likely face if elected through the Political Courage Test.

POLITICAL COURAGE TEST SHOWS
COURAGEOUS CANDIDATES ARE VANISHING

Washington, DC-October 28-The results of Project Vote Smart's twelve-year study measuring the declining courage of more than 100,000 U.S. political candidates was announced today. This election year, more than 75% of all candidates running for President, Congress, governor, and state legislature said, "No," when asked if they were willing to tell the voters their positions on the issues they'll most likely face on their behalf."

The Test measures candidates' willingness to share their issue positions on concerns of importance to citizens in spite of the fact that doing so may expose them to partisan attack ads from their opponents.

With participation by more than 200 major news media and 40 national political leaders across the political spectrum, the Test results show little difference between the two major parties' campaign tactics. However, Test results do reveal a sustained and dramatic decline in the response rates of both Republican and Democratic candidates since the 1996 general elections.

Each candidate for state legislature, governor, Congress, and the Presidency was repeatedly asked every election year to respond to questions that polls showed the voters wanted the candidates to answer, even though they may not have been stamped "SAFE" by their pollsters and campaign consultants.

"We are witnessing the greatest degradation of American democracy in our history," said Richard Kimball, Project Vote Smart President.

* In 1996, 72% of congressional candidates proved themselves willing to provide their issue information through the Test.

* That response rate has dropped steadily in successive elections to an all-time low of 41% in the 2008 elections. The state legislative response rate has dropped from a high of 38% to 21% in the same time frame.

* The willingness of congressional incumbents to answer a broad range of issue questions is even lower-approximately 80% refused in 2008.

* The response rates of Democratic and Republican candidates is virtually the same.

* Between 2000 and 2008, the Project has documented advice from both Democratic and Republican party leaders and consultants to their candidates to play it safe and not answer issue questions.

* A Democratic consultant said, "It's not our job to educate, it's our job to win."

* A Republican consultant said, "We only answer issue questions if they come with a campaign donation."

rats. got to sit here and listen to obama's half hour infomercial @ 8:00 pm eastern time, but without the glee of anticipation that previously i would have experienced for "aftershocks." planned to stay up working on one computer while simultaneously monitoring the "back & forth" between our virtual family members here. we need to get polliesboy back in the saddle as soon as is respectful of his loss of his brother, for his well-being and for ours. kinda wish we had a common destination between thanksgiving and christmas so we could break bread together and learn to treasure the comraderie. junkyarddog

NSL,thanks very much my friend.Just everyone remember. Were only on opposite sides when it comes to party affiliation.Otherwise we all want the same thing in life.A chance to be happy & secure. When were gone our money will be redistributed & the only thing left behind is your name.I hope that mind means something that people will remember for being fair & just & charitable to my fellow man. There are no winners when you die,no matter how much you have accumulated. The day you die the biggest bum on the street has more than you, because he is still breathing.
