I'll bet Sarah Palin knows what the inside of the Walmart and Kroger looks like, while I doubt Obama does.

Right he was making $12,000 per year as a social worker for several years before becoming a Illinoise state senator for 8 yrs.I suspect those 8 yrs in the Illinoise state senate were by way & far more exposure to government than being mayor of some hick town or governor of a state of 670,000 people in a wilderness. She has no idea of what mainstream politics are. She`ll get an education for a few months at least.Just like the oil bubble & housing bubble, her & McCain`s new bubble will burst soon enough.Getting ready to play hard ball now.

I hope she brings some hobnail boots to Washington because walked on is what they deserve. Boot in the ass, more likely. Remember these famous words, "The first pork laden bill that comes to my desk, I'll veto it and I'll make them famous. You'll know their names."

Why do you keep giving me these wonderful reasons to vote for McCain. I was going to do it anyway.

You still didnt acknowledge Her taxing oil. What its OK because she`s a republican. You were all indignant when Obama proposed it.Double standard here huh or is it because you are like a couple others here that think she`s cutesy.

Can't help opening that Illinois door, can you? His political associations in Illinois are so bad, he's spent most of a year trying to explain them away. His single, named, accomplishment was the K thru 12 sex education mandate. Oh, he did manage several dozen present votes. I'd leave that Illinois cesspool alone, if I were you.

The GOP arguements are lame. They are getting ready to have to defend their stance on the economy & their past records. There`s no escaping that fact. The shit will hit the fan when they start pulling figures up.Their records will not stand the light of day. Were dancing the dance right now,but the true issues will be dealt with.

The left is a bit confused on this one, too. She hit them with royalty payments that they had niftily been avoiding. Windfall profits tax? Wrong, again.

By the by, royalty is the base for the rest of the world and is the proposed plan for extracting money from oil companies as the benefit for expanded drilling. Windfall profits taxes is Pelosi's name for unconstitutionally wiping out production tax breaks that are available to every industry.

Be careful where you get those tax figures. Clinton's tax tables won't reflect a tax cut. Why am I making this stupid arguement?

Obama is going to send out a welfare check to everyone, again, and he will wait on the tax hike, on the rich, to see if the economy can get stronger. He has backed so far off his old tax promises it's laughable. He admits the "RICH TAX" could damage a fragile economy. HOLY CRAP, BATMAN, I thought taxing the rich helped the economy get moving.

okay guys......

i don't say much in this thread....but read it everyday. today i have a question so be nice.....

today i saw that mccain does not support equal pay for equal work between men and woman.

they said that when the last vote was held (a few mths ago) he was not there....but when asked later he said that if he had been there he would have voted no!

does anyone know what bill this was or what other issues were tied to it? i'm sure there was more to the bill than just that - i couldn't find it and thought you guys may know.  i have been a mccain supporter - but this i had not heard.

No defense necessary. The Bush tax cuts held the economy up, through a stock market crash, 911 and a huge military build up.

The left needs to stop confusing out of control spending with tax cuts. McCain went against the spending, repeatedly. Unfortunately the rest of my Republican bretheren didn't.

Don't count on that Steve! I think people are so fed up with "politics as usual" that Sarah is a great breath of fresh air blowin in from the North. As to Biden "nukin" her??? Bring it on...Her "sympathy" vote would more then double and Biden'd go down in flames instantly!

-bigrayyy

If ignorance and question dodging is "fresh air", what have we now?

Equal pay for equal work

The legislation was designed to overturn the "LEDBETTER" decision by the Supreme Court. McCain has been kind of a hard ass on this subject and he will vote in favor of supporting almost any Conservative majority in the Court.

Maybe Palin will make him sweeter on this subject, but I doubt it. He insists that sufficient law exists, on this matter.

That's your outrageous statement of the day. The Democrats have been playing the same broken record for 40 years and you think the Republicans haven't had an idea since Gerald Ford.

You need to go back and reread the "contract with America".

Sunny on the matter of equal pay for equal work based on gender, dont hold your breath.McCain is old school. He believes women are second class citizens just barely better than blacks. He`s still pissed that Palin is not black. He was looking for a token black female to round out his ticket.Women that are buying this Palin replacement for hillary, should be insulted to think he believes she`s of the same caliber as hillary. That tells you he has a low esteem of Hillary. This job to him is nothing more than a crown for his ego. He`s trying to outdo his Father & Grandfather that were admirals.Since he could not become an admiral because of character flaws he became a politican.

Ok Goldie,Which part of that damn lie called a contract with america would you like to have assailed.Since none of the terms were actually met except in the boardest interpetation of the meaning.

Be sure to scan up to my response on the "LEDBETTER" decision. It is fact based without the input of the leftist blog.

Gerald Ford was the only decent GOP president in my time. Some condemned him for pardoning Nixon.I didnt. It needed to be brought to a close. It was getting in the way of business te same as the impeachment proceeding against Clinton.Ford was a honorable man.Had it not been for Nixon he would have been a 2 term president.Damn shame. The republicans use all that time & money bringing impeachment proceding against Clinton, fully knowing they could not get the amount of votes to impeach him. That was a complete waste of taxpayer dollars, big time money.Gop spent $100 million investigating steroid use in private business.Baseball is private business folks.Oh BTW in the part of the contract with america that deals with shrinking government.Bill Clinton got rid of 373,000 government employees during his terms.Reagan hired 61,000 more than there was when he came to office.I would like to know, but it scares the hell out of me to know how much extra money Bush has printed.Talk about diluting the dollar.Wait til you get figures on that.It will be staggering.Bet you all haven`t thought of that yet have you.Another scandal coming.

The Hillary comment -- I agree. If he wanted a serious female VP with clout, money, and backing, he would have selected Hillary. Better yet they could have pushed themselves as a coalition party (like it's done in Europe) as to unify voters. Both parties would had had a chance to solve problems and progress instead of petty bickering, interviews filled w/ ignorance, and politics as usual. There's nothing new here, there's no "change in the air". It's just good marketing and branding of a politician -- rather sad since we do need a leader who can help hammer out the New Deal of the 21st century...

Repubs missed a HUGE opportunity here and I think people will see it as time goes on.
